Tracey Howell, Specialist, Labour and Postpartum Doula, Menopause Doula, End of Life Doula

Hello and welcome to my cozy little page!

I am a Labour and Postpartum doula, a Menopause doula and a practicing End of Life doula.  I have spent a year in Trauma-Informed Care and practice training, including training in supporting trauma survivors in their birthing experiences.

More About Tracey Howell

I come from a background of more than 25 years as a lawyer, mediator and avid executive board member for a variety of government, sport, dance and community organizations, including the Alberta Fatality Review Board and the Premier’s Council for the Status of Persons with Disabilities for the province.

For years, I told my legal colleagues – “I’m going to become a midwife or a doula, and leave all this behind!” Reactions included confusion and a lot of head-shaking. To those who know me however, this is a very natural shift. Nothing I’ve contributed to the world compares to the gifts I’ve received birthing and parenting five beautiful souls. I feel so fortunate I now have the freedom to fully pursue doula work. It’s such an exciting privilege to be witness to, and support that experience with other parents!

My own family is remarkable for its intersectionality: my kids are variously biracial, neurodivergent, physically differently-abled and LGBTQ2S+  – all strong beautiful people,  who use their heads and follow their hearts. I am also a happy Lola to five grandchildren.
Diversity, equality and inclusion are part of my core values. I am a fierce advocate for my clients, a nurturing caregiver, and a motivated and experienced educator.

Fun facts: I am also a family mediator, a parenting coordinator, a book and music nerd, and a very enthusiastic cook and gardener!

I very much look forward to working with you!
