Magnetic Resonance Therapy (MeRT)
MeRT, which stands for Magnetic eResonance Therapy, is a personalized and targeted approach to non-invasive brain stimulation.
The MeRT treatment process starts with an initial clinical evaluation with one of NeuroMed’s clinicians and an Electroencephalogram (EEG). The EEG is a test that is used to evaluate brain activity and allows NeuroMed to develop a personalized protocol for each individual they work with. Once the protocol is created, the individual will return to the NeuroMed office for their first MeRT treatment.
A MeRT treatment typically takes around 30-35 minutes and runs daily Monday-Friday. An initial 2 weeks of MeRT treatment will be done, and after those weeks another EEG will be taken followed by another clinical evaluation to assess the patient’s response to the treatment. The comparison of the initial EEG and the final EEG as well as the clinical evaluation will determine if the patient is responding to the treatment.
Typically, a total of 6-8 weeks of MeRT treatment will be recommended depending on the EEG and clinical response.
With this treatment, NeuroMed has been able to treat many children with autism, as well as those with TBI, PTSD, anxiety, and depression.
