How We Can Help

Assessments for Learning Disorders

Assessments for learning disorders are usually tests involving very specific issues with learning – for example:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Mathematics
  • Non-verbal communication

We conduct specific tests to confirm and identify a suspected learning disorder and the severity of the disorder.

Assessments for Developmental Disorders

When attempting to understand developmental disorders, exploring a psychological assessment can become a critical component in understanding the nuances needed to help adequately diagnose a specific disorder. Diagnoses of developmental disorders commonly involve the combination of understanding components of each of the following:

  • Psycho-educational assessments
  • Behavioral assessments
  • Academic assessments
  • Neuropsychological assessments

Behavioural Assessment

These tests can explore reasons and/or comparisons to what is typical behaviour in different areas of behavioral functioning to help get a better understanding of what the issue or disorder may be, what might be causing the issue, or what specific behaviors are causing the problem.

Intellectually Advanced Assessment

Insight’s intellectually advanced assessments can provide a level of comprehensive information and recommendations which parents and educators can use to make informed educational decisions for their children and get in-school support and additional resources, allowing children to ultimately reach their full potential.

Parental Assessment

Formal parenting assessments can help to identify your parenting strengths and weaknesses and provide a clearer path forward for your parenting strategies and mental health care. Insight’s trained therapists provide assessments that assist individuals to improve their lives. Parenting assessments are helpful in identifying your levels of mental health symptoms and parenting knowledge objectively

PN7 Assessment

A Practice Note 7 (PN7) is used during a high-conflict divorce or separation when children are involved and:

  1. The parents/family are in a deadlock and it’s not possible to move forward so,
  2. An intervention of the Court is required, and
  3. The Court requires the support and knowledge of a Parenting Expert.

The Court, acting in the best interest of the child (or children), calls in a Parenting Expert (usually a psychologist) for the purpose of a PN7 assessment or intervention.

PN8 (Custody Access) Assessment

Custody access and parental assessments are designed to examine the dynamics of parent-child interactions. These assessments are called a Practice Note 8 (PN8) assessment. Child custody and access assessments are required when parents are unable to resolve parenting disputes themselves and a PN7 assessment was unsuccessful in resolving the issues experienced by the family.

Psychoeducational Assessment

Psychoeducational assessments will confirm the presence of an intellectual issue, academic issue or delay, or learning disorder, allowing you to get help and explore further available support or funding.
