Massage Therapy for Children
Massage Therapy for Children (Pediatric Massage Therapy)
Pediatric massage therapy is a specialized form of massage designed specifically for children and adolescents. This gentle, nurturing therapy can provide a wide range of physical and emotional benefits for children as they grow and develop. Our massage therapists are trained in pediatric care and use techniques tailored to the growing bodies of children to ensure a safe, comfortable and effective experience.
What to Expect for Your Child’s Session
When you choose our massage therapy services, you can expect a personalized and supportive experience designed to meet your child’s individual needs. If your child is under the age of 16, we require parental consent and ask that a parent stay in the room for the duration of the treatment. We also ask that our child clients remain fully clothed for their treatment.
At Spring we place top priority on empowering your child to guide the massage therapy treatment based on their comfort levels. This includes always obtaining consent from your child before engaging in touch therapy and consistently altering the treatment in real-time based on what pressure levels and body positionings are comfortable for your child at that moment. Here’s what you can look forward to during your child’s session:
- Initial Consultation: Each appointment begins with a thorough consultation with parent(s) and child present to discuss your child’s specific concerns, health history, and any areas of discomfort. This helps us tailor the massage to your child’s needs and ensures that parent(s) are informed of the child’s treatment plan before engaging in massage therapy.
- Comfortable Environment: We prioritize your child’s comfort by creating a relaxing and soothing atmosphere. Our treatment rooms are designed to be warm and inviting, equipped with supportive cushions and pillows to accommodate your child’s growing body.
- Tailored Techniques: Based on your child’s consultation, our therapists use a variety of pediatric massage techniques to address your child’s unique concerns.
- Gentle Adjustments: We adjust the massage techniques and positions to ensure maximum comfort and effectiveness, taking care to avoid any areas that might be sensitive or uncomfortable.
- Post-Session Guidance: After your child’s massage, our therapists provide recommendations for self-care, including stretches and relaxation techniques to help your child maintain the benefits of their session. We also offer advice on lifestyle adjustments to support your child’s overall well-being.
