Insight Psychological Therapists - Megan Oviatt
Megan Oviatt, Registered Provisional Psychologist, B. Ed, MC (She/Her)
Hi, my name is Megan. I am a registered provisional psychologist. Being here, supporting clients, is a lifelong dream and passion of mine. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share space with you. My approach to counselling focuses on helping you to figure out what is holding you back from the life you truly want and then creating a realistic plan to get you closer to that. I believe that people have the capacity to do more than they believe, but sometimes we need a little support as we navigate life’s challenges.
If you are struggling to take the first step in booking an appointment or curious about whether I am the right fit for you, please give us a call to schedule a free 15 minute consultation.
More About Megan Oviatt
I come into this work with a Master of Counselling Psychology and a Bachelor of Education. I have a deep passion for understanding the human mind and why people do what they do. I have a special interest in working with men and young people (ages 12+).
Throughout my career, I have gained significant experience in crisis intervention, providing vital support to individuals navigating challenging times. My goal is to create a collaborative environment where people can explore their emotions, develop coping strategies, and embark on a journey of self-discovery.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in humanistic and client-centred principles. That means I believe that counselling is about you and your unique experiences and needs. My focus lies in helping people unearth their authenticity and courage, enabling them to craft lives filled with empowerment and peace. I strive to create a safe and empathetic space where you can explore your innermost thoughts and feelings and work toward positive change.
I am trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a powerful approach that encourages psychological flexibility and resilience. Additionally, my work includes Narrative Therapy, a method that emphasizes the importance of personal narratives in shaping our lives. I am also a Level 1 Gottman Therapist, equipped with the skills to support couples in building strong, healthy relationships.
A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS:
What quick advice do you have for people who are really struggling?
You are one decision away from change. If you can- step back, take a moment to look around, and then do one small thing to get you closer to where you want to be.
What was a defining moment in your life?
When I realized that I could let go of everything I had been told about myself and what my life “should” look like and create a life and identity that align with my values and goals.
