Insight Psychological Therapists - Morganne Stubbs
Morganne Stubbs, Registered Psychologist, BSc, MACP, (She/Her)
Hello and welcome! I’m Morganne. I’d like to take a moment to share a bit about my approach and style, so you can get a sense of whether I might be the right fit for you.
As a therapist, I primarily work from a Humanistic perspective, which means I believe in your inherent capacity for growth, healing, and self-discovery. I also incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which focuses on accepting difficult emotions while helping you live in alignment with your values.
My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can explore your concerns, gain clarity, and make meaningful progress toward your goals. Whether you’re addressing specific challenges or pursuing broader personal growth, I’m here to guide and support you along the way.
More About Morganne Stubbs
Humanistic therapy focuses on the belief that you have the ability to grow, heal, and achieve your fullest potential. It emphasizes empathy, self-awareness, and the importance of understanding your unique experience in a non-judgmental environment.
ACT is a therapeutic approach that helps you accept difficult emotions and thoughts, rather than trying to avoid or control them. It focuses on living in alignment with your values, taking meaningful actions, and cultivating psychological flexibility.
Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, or relationship issues—or simply looking to build a stronger foundation for the future—therapy is a journey of both addressing immediate concerns and creating lasting change. Think of our time together not just as putting out the fires, but as setting up a foundation that can better withstand life’s challenges down the road.
I take a collaborative approach to therapy, which means I’ll work alongside you, listening, providing insights, and offering strategies, but ultimately, you are in control of your healing process. At the same time, I can be directive when needed, guiding you through practical steps to help you move forward in a meaningful way. I want to ensure that our work is not just focused on the challenges you’re facing, but also on empowering you to make choices that are aligned with your deeper values and goals.
My approach is warm and supportive, and I am committed to creating a non-judgmental space where you can feel safe to express yourself openly. I believe in your ability to grow, learn, and change, and my goal is to help you tap into your strengths while also providing the tools and perspectives that can help you navigate life with more ease and confidence.
On a personal note, when I’m not working with clients, you can usually find me unwinding with some video games—I’m a big fan of games like Stardew Valley, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Dreamlight Valley. They’re a fun way to relax and engage with storytelling. I also enjoy taking my dogs on long walks—especially since they’re the kind of breeds that never seem to get tired! Outside of that, I used to be a lifeguard and swim instructor, so I’ve always had a love for the water. And when I get some downtime, I love diving into a good fantasy novel.
Confidentiality is a key part of our work together. What you share in session remains between us, except in situations where safety is a concern, and I’ll always make sure you understand the limits of confidentiality.
I look forward to working with you, whether you are dealing with a specific challenge or on a broader path of personal growth. If you have any questions along the way or want to discuss something further, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here to support you every step of the way.
A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS:
What do you do to keep your outlook optimistic?
I stay optimistic by reminding myself that I’ve faced challenges before and come out stronger. When reframing a tough situation, I turn to others for a fresh perspective. I also practice self-reflection to understand where negative thoughts are coming from, which helps me shift my mindset.
When I feel overwhelmed, I take a break, give myself space, and break tasks into smaller steps. Gratitude helps me refocus, and I allow myself time to destimulate before tackling things again. My relationships also play a big role in boosting my confidence and helping me stay strong during difficult moments.
What quick advice do you have for people who are really struggling?
The brain is great at trying to protect us, but it doesn’t always know how to make us happy. It’s okay to feel what you’re feeling, but you don’t have to let those emotions dictate your actions. You can acknowledge them, then move forward with intention toward the path you want to take.
